Royal West Norfolk Golf Club is five minutes from the hotel. This private members club was founded in 1892, the first patron being HRH Prince of Wales, who played at the club whilst staying at Sandringham House
First president was W H Simms Reeves who lived in Brancaster as Lord of the Manor and owned the original land.
The course was designed in 1890 by Holkham Ingleby and has remained the same until this day, apart from in 1953 when one of the holes was swept away during a great flood on the East coast.
The major attraction of this links course is the severe golf challenge it gives the players, with adverse weather conditions and wind playing a major part. Many would say the major attraction would be the stunning views over Brancaster Staithe Harbour and to Scolt Head Island.
Another unusual feature is the dog friendly policy which is very popular with the members who walk their dogs as well as enjoying a round of golf.
To play the course it is necessary to be a member of a Golf club only two ball play, do enquire about the tides, and contact the club direct on 01485 210087
Located on the beautiful north west Norfolk coast, Hunstanton is a superb championship links course.
For more than a century, golfers have walked the rolling fairways nestling in a stunning landscape of dunes and links land grasses. The views change by the minute as the light alters, enriching your golfing enjoyment.
You can play Hunstanton on seven consecutive days and imagine you have played seven different courses - the magic never fades.
